Dr. Javad Parvizi is a world expert in infection prevention and management in orthopaedic surgery and recently hosted an international webinar on returning to elective orthopedic surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was honored to take part in this three-part webinar where we discussed, in depth, the many steps being taken by orthopedic surgeons, hospital systems and clinics around the world to return to safe elective surgery. This was an interactive webinar where we each provided our insights and experiences and discussed the guidelines outlined by the International Consensus Group and published in a recent edition of The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. These preventative measures are being practiced at Proliance Orthopedic Associates and at Valley Medical Center as we lead the charge to provide safe, elective orthopaedic surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic.
