Q-Tip Handprint X-Ray Craft

X-ray imaging gives us a special look inside our bodies, allowing us to see the bones that help us to move and stand up tall! Whip out your doctor kit (and craft supplies) to create this special x-ray image of your child's hand!

[This activity is great for children aged 5-10 years old.]

Materials needed:

  • Black construction paper
  • Q-tips
  • Craft glue
  • White paint
  • Paint brush
  • Scissors
  • Newspaper (for protecting surfaces)

Directions:

Using the paint brush, cover your child's hand and wrist with white paint. Help your child to place their painted hand onto the black construction paper, making a clear hand/arm print. Allow the paint to dry before moving onto the next step.

Once the paint has dried, gather the q-tips you will use as bones. If needed, help your child to cut several q-tips in half. Once finished cutting, use the q-tips to construct the wrist and hand skeleton on the page. Glue q-tips into place.

Use your finished product to play doctor at home! If desired, take some time to identify the arm and hand bones with your child!

When you've completed your pasta skeletons, share them to our POA Facebook page, to inspire others as well!
