VOA Physicians, Staff Donate Thousands in Time of Need

Proliance Orthopedic Associates

The holiday season is a time of giving. Between the down economy and the recent wintry blasts from Mother Nature, it seems giving is needed this year more than ever before. The physicians and staff at VOA recently teamed up to donate several thousand dollars to local charitable organizations.

The organizations are:

  • Kent Food Bank and Emergency Services: Part of the South King County Food Coalition, funds are dedicated to providing on-going nutritionally balanced food for people in need.
  • Friends of King County Animal Control (KCAC): Funds support the KCAC mission to promote the adoption of pets in King County, publicize the need to spay or neuter, promote pet licensing, and support the needs of the animals primarily at King County Animal Control.
  • Domestic Abuse Women’s Network (DAWN): Funds help DAWN provide services to survivors of domestic abuse and violence in Seattle and South King County.
  • Community Volunteers of Fire District 40: Funds used to buy toys for children in need.
  • Early Childhood Education and Assistance (ECAP) at Renton School District: Funds used to purchase 72 families in need a Safeway gift card. ECAP helps provide assistance to Renton School District families living in poverty.

“This is a time of uncertainty. We’re all worried about the effects of the economy but we can’t forget about those in need in our own communities,” said orthopedic surgeon Dr. William Barrett.

The physicians and staff at VOA encourage you to remember the charitable organizations serving your community this season and throughout the year.

“Whatever you can give is a valuable resource,” Dr. Barrett said. “Whether it’s a few dollars or a few hours of your time, it adds up and can make a world of difference to someone in need.”
