Last month, Dr. Barrett welcomed Dr. Weijun Wang from Nanjing, China along with Dr. Kuan Li and Dr. Wei Li from Jinan, China. These three surgeons (and their translator) observed Dr. Barrett’s technique while performing anterior hip replacements and total knee replacements. They also observed Physician Assistant Jana Flener’s technique on wound closure.
Dr. Barrett is the Medical Director of the Joint Center at Valley Medical Center in Renton, Wa, the only hospital in Washington State recognized as the Center of Excellence for Joint Replacement by the Center for Medicare Services. He is the president of the VOA Research Foundation and was named top doctor for joint replacement by both Seattle Magazine and Seattle Metropolitan Magazine for 10 years in a row.
Dr. Barrett has helped design some of the most widely used joint replacement implants for hip and knee replacement. Along with his partners at Proliance Orthopedic Associates, he is very excited about the upcoming POA / UW VMC ambulatory surgery center, which will be a state-of-the-art center for outpatient joint replacement and spine surgery in addition to our current outpatient cases. They look forward to welcoming patients to this facility in late 2019.
